This time next week...

Presumably there is a French equivalent to Enid Blyton’s classic children’s stories “The Famous Five”, but I don’t know what it is.  Maybe that’s something I will learn while we are in France this year...

Circumstances have conspired to allow the five of us (2 adults and 3 kids - no dog) the opportunity to spend about three months this year travelling, and we have chosen to spend about 10 weeks in a small village in the south-west of France.  Hopefully it will be more Five have a Wonderful Time and Five have Plenty of Fun rather than Five Get into a Fix or Five Get into Trouble.

The older two children are learning French at school, Andrew has been diligently working through Michel Thomas CDs during his commutes to and from work, and I have been supplementing my ancient school-girl French with classes at the Alliance Francaise.
We have drunk the last bottle of wine in the house, and we are down to gin and tonic or cask wine, so it must be nearly time to set off.  Indeed, this time next week, we will be mid-journey: somewhere between Melbourne and Paris.  Before then there is much to do: creating some semblance of order in the house for our lovely house-sitter, some last minute shopping, packing of course, and some no-doubt tearful farewells.  Unless we have a dramatic or amusing hiccup, our next post should be from Paris.
We hope you will wish us “Bon voyage et Bon chance”!
